As organisations undergo enormous change, leaving thousands of people unemployed, serendipitously thousands more are exploring the opportunities of being an entrepreneur.

Becoming an entrepreneur is more than starting a business, it’s a mindset, or in the case of Orion Brown, Founder & CEO of BlackTravelBox, it’s a case of mind reset.

For women of color, the business world continues to be a playing field riddled with stereotypes, malignancy, and injustice. The onus is often on the women of color to figure out how to work around these challenges rather than being on the white/cis/male leadership who create the culture. We’re pushing for legislation, protesting, creating coalitions, etc rather than a heavy lift from the community as a whole to recognize and reverse these behaviors.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Orion spent 15 years in brand strategy, business management and consumer marketing, with the bulk of her career at Kraft Foods working across several global brands.

Join me on today’s episode as we talk with Orion about her journey as an entrepreneur, being courageous and her vision for a world where the concept of normal is challenged and Black women are able to access products that celebrate their own unique qualities.
